Camp Beech Cliff Speech Contest
The Eagle's Nest at Camp Beech Cliff was the place to be on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 18th. 12 sixth through eighth grade finalists from the district's schools presented their speech on "An Interesting Landmark". All students did an amazing job and showcased their hard work. Mount Desert Elementary School is pleased to announce that both of our finalists placed in the top 3!
Juniper Macko received First Place honors and Ruthie Butler came in Second Place. Congratulations to our winners on a fine job. MDES is proud of you!

The Kindergarten town, Roxaboxen, is becoming quite the small community!
Ms. Cullen's Wonderful 1-2 celebrated the Spring Equinox with crowns, songs and a blooming flower experiment.

Eligibility Requirements
Students should be in good standing academically. Students may be awarded a scholarship based on financial need, athletic need, or as recognition for outstanding athletic achievement. Students who represent the spirit of good citizenship and demonstrate a positive work ethic, are a good role model, and have a positive attitude will be given higher priority.
Application Procedures
Students may apply by completing an application and returning it into the Mount Desert Elementary School office along with a copy of the camp brochure on or before April 11th. Once the application has been reviewed and processed, you will be notified by letter and a check in the amount approved by the committee will be mailed to your child's camp. When filling out the application please include the name of the camp and address to send the check.

Jazz Band rehearses every Wednesday and Friday at 7:20am
The State Jazz Festival is Saturday, March 22nd,
at Waterville High School.
Parents, please look for a permission slip.
On Tuesday, March 25th, 8th grade musicians will be traveling with Mrs. Graves to see the broadway production of The Addam's Family. Please be on the look out for permission slips!
The 5th-8th grade Advanced Band will be performing in a combined concert with the MDIHS Band on Wednesday, April 2nd. The concert will be in the MDES gym at 5:00. Mark your calendars and be on the lookout for more information.
