The 8th grade class hosted their 3rd All School Assembly this Friday in the gymnasium. It was complete with silly jokes, birthday wishes, student and staff shout outs, upcoming events and a special song sung by the 3rd grade class.

Homework Club
Homework Club 5th-8th grades
Monday(except the first Monday of each month),Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 3:15-4:15
This is a space for students to work on assignments after school. A snack is provided (think granola bar, pretzels or Chex mix). Any 5th- 8th grade student is welcome to attend.Students are encouraged to attend after an absence, before a practice or game, or when they may benefit from help with their work.

Eligibility Requirements
Students should be in good standing academically. Students may be awarded a scholarship based on financial need, athletic need, or as recognition for outstanding athletic achievement. Students who represent the spirit of good citizenship and demonstrate a positive work ethic, are a good role model, and have a positive attitude will be given higher priority.
Application Procedures
Students may apply by completing an application and returning it into the Mount Desert Elementary School office along with a copy of the camp brochure on or before April 11th. Once the application has been reviewed and processed, you will be notified by letter and a check in the amount approved by the committee will be mailed to your child's camp. When filling out the application please include the name of the camp and address to send the check.

Jazz Band rehearses every Wednesday and Friday at 7:20am
The 5th-8th grade Advanced Band will be performing in a combined concert with the MDIHS Band on Wednesday, April 2nd. The concert will be in the MDES gym at 5:00. Mark your calendars and be on the lookout for more information.
Congratulations to our MDES jazz band! They had an amazing performance at the state jazz festival and received a silver rating. All of our soloists(Juniper Macko, Wyatt Ford, Avery Norwood, Jake Hartson and Brendan Ruda) received highest ratings on their solos!
On Tuesday, 8th grade musicians watched The Addam's Family with Mrs. Graves and musicians from all of AOS 91. They also got to meet and ask questions of former MDES musician, Megan Howell, who is touring with the broadway show and making a living as a professional musician.
Good luck to Chirp who is off to compete at the state show choir festival on Saturday!!
