Good day!
Today begins the 4th term of the 2024-2025 school year.  The last day of classes for seniors will be Wednesday, May 28 with graduation on Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m.  Barring more storm days, the last day for all other students is Monday, June 9.

On Wednesday, April 9, we'll be administering the SAT to all Juniors.  On that same day Freshmen (Volta) and Sophomores (Community Service) will be off campus.  Seniors needing community service hours can join the sophomore groups (contact Wendy Littlefield at wlittlefield@mdirss.org for more information) or help with spring cleaning at the high school under the supervision of John DaGraca.  Seniors may also be contacted to work on academics that day with a teacher.

On Friday, April 11 we'll be holding a school dance for MDIHS students only. Doors will open shortly before 7 p.m.  and the dance will end at 9 p.m.  No students will be admitted after 8 a.m.  All school rules are in effect,  including our dress code and policies covering illegal substances.  We only permit face to face dancing.

If you have had any updates since the beginning of school, be sure to update the emergency contacts for your child[ren], including who they can be released to.

New addition to the Technology Wing

The CTE Department wanted to make sure that everyone knew where we are if you're looking for us around school. So, with the help of some students and the equipment we have in our area, we were able to produce this new sign and get it hung up today. Special thanks to Michael Johnston and Nate Kelmenson (both Class of '25 students) for their individual efforts in creating this piece. There's still a few pieces to be added to either side of the sign, but there should be no reason not know where to go to come visit our area now!

Winter evening

Happy SPRING MDI !

We made it !  Spring is here and it's an exciting time for students and staff as the summer break approaches.  We are seeing lots of spring colds and allergies as we arm up, so please take care of yourselves.  I hope that as the weather gets nicer you are all able to enjoy some sunshine!

As always Incoming Freshman and upcoming juniors need an up to date physical to participate in any clubs or athletics in the fall.  We will be offering physicals here at the school June 2-4th for upcoming Juniors during the school day, please call the clinic to schedule.  As usual we will also be offering physicals in August, date to be announced.

Prior to fall athletics starting in August it gets EXTREMELY busy here with Rank One information and the scramble to get updated physicals in for your student.  Please have your students Rank One information in by August 1.  The ladies in the office are here if you have any questions.

Finally, if your student gets a well child check that is up to date please ask the provider office to fax it to the HS (288-0692). Please follow up with the providers office to make sure it was faxed.

If your student carries an inhaler and/or has serious allergies and you have not spoken to me, please contact me as there is paperwork to be completed for the student to self carry any type of inhalers or medications. As always if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Student Absences:
Parents/Guardians: Please contact the school at 288-5011 to report an absence on the ‘Attendance Line’--Option 1
It is very important that parents/guardians contact the school, using the above method, when your child is out of school.  It is vital that we know when someone is out due to illness, so that our school nurse, Tammy Underwood, can reach out to the family and ensure a safe return to school that will keep us all healthy. Approved list of excused absences according to Maine State Law. MDIHS also accepts legal appointments.

Late to school?
All students must check-in at the Main Office upon arrival, even if tardiness is excused.

Need to be dismissed from school?
Calling or sending a note in the morning allows us to give your student a pass to get out of class at the appropriate time.  If a student feels sick once they arrive, they need to be dismissed by our nurse, Tammy Underwood. Students cannot leave the building without permission from a parent/guardian AND checking out at the Main Office.

Forgot something at home?
A parent may drop off items at the main office, and the student will be called down between classes.

Extracurricular Information?
All Extracurricular Information can be found on the Athletics tab on our homepage, www.mdihs.net.  Cancellations and changes will be posted by 1pm, or as soon as possible. Want to find out if school is canceled or delayed? Call 288-5011, ext 7, or check our webpage, www.mdihs.net.

Student  Absence for 3 days or more of school
It is important to notify the school when your student is going to miss 3 days or more of school. The Extended Absence Form should be completed ahead of time by your student and their teachers. Completed forms are turned in to Mr. Braun’s office.
