Hi Pemetic Families,
Another great week at our school. October is just flying by!
Our 1st and 2nd graders went to the Oceanarium yesterday. Fun was had by all!
Our Third Grade visited the Gilley Museum to learn about birds, the current textile exhibit by Sarah Matthewson, and how to behave appropriately in a museum setting. They also got to work on a paper collage project that will be showcased in the Gilley Museum's Community Art Show in December. Students were so respectful and engaged in their projects, and we are incredibly grateful for our continued collaboration with the Gilley Museum and its wonderful staff!
Healthy Acadia has started working with our Middle School students. The focus this week was "Who Am I?" This lesson aimed to help students think about their interests, friendships, strengths, and future goals. They created a personal coat of arms which included a favorite place, an animal that represents them, hobbies, and a symbol and motto that represents them.
The Halloween Parade this year will be on 10/30 NOT THE 31st due to the Early Release. It will start at 2:15. Please note that teachers will not be able to apply face makeup or do hair. If you plan on taking your child after the parade please notify their classroom teacher or the office.
Also we would like to take a moment to celebrate one of our own this week. Dr. Ed Michaud, our amazing French teacher, substitute bus driver, and so much more, has recently been published in the Journal of Music Teacher Education, a peer-reviewed academic journal. The title of the article is “Teaching Self-Efficacy Beliefs and Commitment Among Rural Music Educators,” He was lead author and co-wrote with Dr. Karin Hendricks of Boston University. Congratulations to Dr. Michaud!
Enjoy your weekend!
Best,
Carolyn Todd

PEMETIC PTO NEWS!!
The Pemetic PTO will be at the MDI marathon Finish Line Festival this Sunday! Come by for some popcorn, cheer on the runners, and you can find out more about PTO too!
Our next big event is in November, the Thanksgiving buddy lunch. We will be planning, setting up and volunteering at the event, and welcome any help.
PTO meets the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 in the school library. We gather a little bit before the meeting to chit chat and have some snacks. We are looking into a date for an after school meeting time to make it more convenient for teachers to attend. We welcome parents and teachers for any amount participation that works for them. The PTO officer position of secretary is open. Future PTO events include the cookie sale in December, Scholastic book fair in February, and the Great harbor shoot out concession sales in March.
