Greetings TCS Families,

Here are a few recent highlights from TCS:

  • Second graders learning about the origin of rivers.  They created models to simulate the flow of water as part of their study of landforms.
  • 5th graders presented their volcano projects
  • 3rd graders shared Maine author and illustrator, Chris Van Dusen, with TCS and 3rd graders from MDES.  Students learned about his writing process and how he gets inspired to write and draw.  TCS students also showed the Mr. Dusen the town they designed, "Kidtopia" and their STEM designs.
  • 7th and 8th grade math students will be holding a school-wide miniature golf tournament on Monday, November 3rd.  All students are welcome to participate.  There will also be a snack stand, so if your child would like a homemade snack, please send them with money.  Brownies and muffins will be $2.00 each, popcorn $1.00, and cider $1.00.  The proceeds will go to the 7th and 8th grade trips. If this is a hardship, please contact Ellen Kelley at ellen.kelley@mdirss.org.
  • A HUGE thank you to Frost Farm for donating a pumpkin for each TCS student!  Many math practices were utilized before pumpkin carving began at TCS.
  • The first TCS Trunk or Treat was a big success.  Thank you to all of the volunteers who made it possible!
  • Many thanks also to the TCS community for squishing into the halls and being flexible for the annual costume parade.  We made the tight space work and had a great time!  Mrs. Putnam and the TCS band lifted spirits with festive music and PTO provided tasty treats.

Due to the Federal shutdown, SNAP benefits, a very important program that helps to alleviate food insecurity nationwide, may not continue on November 1st.

Families should contact 211Maine.org for resources.

Families may also find information on the closest food banks in their area.
